What is a Match?
A PRS match is a dynamic and challenging shooting competition where participants engage steel targets from various positions, props, and barricades—often under time pressure.
Each match consists of multiple stages, designed to test marksmanship, positional shooting skills, and the ability to adapt under stress.
Shooters earn points based on their performance, contributing to their national ranking throughout the season.
What is a Stage?
A PRS match is divided into a series of stages, each representing a unique shooting scenario. A stage will outline which targets to engage, from which shooting positions, and within a specific time limit.
Stages vary in difficulty and often include one or more challenging elements, such as:
-
Long-range targets
-
Multiple target transitions
-
Unstable shooting positions
-
Small target sizes
-
Complex movement between positions
While most gear and equipment are allowed, some stages may include limitations – such as “one bag only” or no bipods.
A typical stage might involve 10 rounds in 90 seconds, shot from 3–5 different positions.
